Action Contre la Faim (ACF)
Job Context
Responsible for Mental Health & Care Practice activities by providing, sensitization, awareness raising session at community level, monitoring Baby Friendly Space activities, training to stakeholders, direct psycho-social and care practice support to the beneficiaries, and produce regular reports on activities, assessments and follow-ups. The Project Officer will be responsible for regular supervision of the supervisees. Flexibility is highly expected for this position.
Job Responsibilities
- Mission 1: Ensure the implementation of the MHCP activities in the working area:
- Activities:
- Implement and follow up care practice activities in the camp (home visits for follow-up of BNF, group discussion sessions, practical sessions, meetings/ workshops with leaders, etc.)
- Participate in the definition of the issues to tackle through awareness raising ,sensitization and corresponding key messages;
- Detect the cases in difficulties and provide additional services to them. Refer these cases to other people or agencies if it is required.
- Supervise the work of psychosocial workers (APOs), Psychosocial Assistants (PSAs) and volunteers. Ensure follow-up of beneficiaries were correctly done through home visits;
- Monitor the relationship between the team members and the beneficiaries;
- Participate in the follow-up of orders and consumption of materials needed for the activities;
- Report on the activity indicators as well as context issues related to mental health and care practices in the camp.
- Support and monitor activities of Baby Friendly Space
- Provide feedback and input in order to improve the project’s quality.
- Mission 2: Team management:
- Activities:
- Draw up planning of activities;
- Identify team’s training needs and provide on-the-job coaching to psychosocial workers, Psychosocial assistants and volunteers;
- Contribute significantly to the development of individualized action plans for every APOs and PSAs;
- Provide guidance and support to APOs on prevention, conduct sessions, nutrition, hygiene and care practices subjects, and other related issues.
- Ensure coordination of activities in the camps and work in collaboration with other members of Action Against Hunger team.
- Manage the team in order to optimise their performance, this include but not limited to, team management meeting, enhancing group morale, management and leadership.
- Mission 3: To conduct specific psychosocial group activities (adapted and appropriate to each one’s specific needs and capacities):
- Activities:
- Conduct discussion groups with individuals, families and communities, neighbours.
- Conduct support groups with particular such as disabled, isolated/discriminated people, etc.
- When needed/possible, work with the partners and volunteers to create and implement psycho-social activities in the centres and at community level
- Ensure a qualitative follow up of the beneficiaries participating to group activities.
- Reporting of activities and evolution of the beneficiaries’ psychosocial situation.
- Mission 4: To produce regular reports on activities, assessments, follow-up and other related documents to ensure the quality and reporting of the project
- Activities:
- Reports on a weekly basis about activities planned and implemented.
- Analyses and reports on beneficiaries’ psychosocial and care practices status.
- Ensure a daily quantitative and qualitative reporting through the tools (assessment form, follow up form, group activity reporting tool, discharge form which includes the final assessment of the beneficiary’s psychosocial status) and system in place.
- Any other reports to be made upon line manager’s request.
- In formal and informal meetings with the team, participate to a qualitative analysis of the different kinds of issues, at individual, family and community level.
- Mission 5: Develop work in multidisciplinary teams
- Activities:
- Work in close collaboration with the medical, nutrition, food security and water and sanitation departments ;
- Exchange information concerning the projects;
- Participate in a weekly meeting with other MHCP supervisors to address common issues and discuss and agree on action plans for specific cases;
- Mission 6: Respect a strict confidentiality
- Activities:
- Assist in research on MHCP and strictly respect the confidentiality of data, being the property of the project’s beneficiaries and ACF ;
- Respect confidentiality regarding the content of clinical interviews, except when exchanging information with other team members to draw joint action plans in the best interest of the beneficiaries.
- Mission 7: Proactively support ACFs commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity
- Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary
- Implement all work related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, taking into account the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries
- Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities
- Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees
- Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Psychology/Social science
- Bachelor degree in Psychology/Social science with at least one year experience in care practice and nutrition.
Additional Requirements
- Team management experience is highly desirable.
- Strong interest in working with nutrition, women and child care, and communities is required.
- Priority will be given who has training and experience in working with NGOs

Compensation & Other Benefits
- Festival Bonus: 1 month Gross salary every year.
- Provident Fund – 7.5% of Basic Salary.
- Performance Bonus – from 30 % to 80% of monthly Gross salary per year vary from performance;
